Recommendation for Swinging Bike Carrier and Hitch for 2012 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Potential Hitch and Bike Rack Purchase. Vehicle - 2012 Honda Odyssey Hitch - Curt C13068 Bike Rack - Yakima FullSwing Y02465 Will the bike rack clear the bumper. From the videos it appears with this hitch there is 5.5 inches from pin to bumper and with rack there is 6.5 inches from pin to closest part. Is the closest part considered the T-handle? If so is there enough clearance to unscrew the T-handle to use the swing out function? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks,

The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13068, is a great choice for your 2012 Honda Odyssey. This custom fit hitch bolts directly to your Odyssey's frame with no welding required.
You are correct, the measurements we have show the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the Odyssey's bumper being 5-1/2 inches. Since the Yakima FullSwing, # Y02465, only has a distance of 6-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack, it might be a bit tight when trying to unscrew the T-handle for the swing out function.
I recommend taking a look at the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Carrier, # TH9027XT. This carrier has a distance of 7 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack and has very similar features to those on the Yakima FullSwing.
If you will be carrying any women's, children's or alternative frame bikes, I recommend picking up the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT. Bikes with small or angled frames can be difficult to load on hanging style bike racks and they can cause ground clearance issues. This adapter will allow you to load the bikes easily and safely. I have also attached a demonstration video of this adapter bar for you.
For added security we also offer the Thule Cable Lock with One Key System, # TH538XT.
