Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack that Allows Rear Hatch to Open on a 2016 Honda Odyssey
Question:
I am looking to install a trailer hitch and a bike rack on my 2016 Odyssey. I want to be able to open the rear lift hatch with the bikes loaded so it will have to accommodate that. What do you recommend?

I will be happy to help. First, for a trailer hitch, Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75270 is an excellent choice. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver so it will work with the type of bike racks that will allow you to open the rear hatch on your 2016 Honda Odyssey.
For a bike rack that will allow you to open the rear hatch on the van, with or without the bikes loaded, I recommend the Thule Apex # TH9027XT. It can swing off to the side of the vehicle allowing the hatch to open. I have included a link to a video showing how it works.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
