Tail Light Wiring Differences Between the 2008 Ford Edge and the 2011-2013 Ford Edge

Question:

What are the wiring differences with the 2008 Front wheel drive to your 2011-13 AWD?

The Ford Edge went through a style change in 2011 and one of the changes involved the tail lights. The earlier generation Edge, including the 2008 models, used a combined wiring system. This means that the same bulb and circuit was used for the turn signal and the brake light.

In 2011, the Edge was changed to a separate wiring system. There are separate bulbs for the turn signal and brake lights which means there are separate circuits for the turn signals and brake lights.

These wiring differences will affect all custom fit tail light wiring harnesses. Custom fit tail light wiring harnesses for the 2008 models will not fit the 2011 and newer models. Front wheel drive and all wheel drive configurations do not have any effect on the tail light wiring.

If you are looking for a flat tow tail light wiring harness, then I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit, # HM56000, for a 2008 Ford Edge and # HM56001 for the 2011-2013 Ford Edge.
