Reese Weight Distribution Shank to Tow Old Airstream Trailer Level with 2012 Ram 2500

Question:

I have an older Airstream 29/4540 lb. unloaded that rides level at a ball height of 14inch towed behind a 2012 3/4 ton diesel Dodge Ram that requires using this bar with the adjustable weight distribution hitch/ round bar as low as possible with this bar in the max position with the bars longest part pointed downwards so i this okay as have no other option that I know? Please advise thanks

It sounds like you need a weight distribution shank with more drop. The bars would not be pointed down, you want them to be level unless the trailer has a bottom mount coupler, then the bars can point up if they have to.

The Reese shank that has the most drop for a round bar system is # RP3344. At most it is capable of 8-5/8 inches of drop when used with a round bar system.

You can also measure to make sure you know the amount needed before ordering. I have included a link to an article that will help. The article is on regular ball mounts but the method for measuring is the same for weight distribution shanks.
