Will a Husky 16k Hitch fit in the Rails that a Reese 15k Was Installed In
Question:
Hi, I just bought a 1989 Ford F250 XLT 2WD. It came with a Reese 15K Fifth wheel hitch. I currently have a one year old Husky 16K hitch. It is currently on my 1982 Chevy Crew Cab 2WD pickup… Is the rails designed capacity the same for on top rails? I would like to interchange the two hitches, but I wasnt sure if the rails could handle a 16K... Oh the Ford truck with the current Reese hitch is a slider on a full size bed, my new hitch is not a slider coming from the Chevy, does this matter? I am not sure of the part number on the rails! Thank you!

The rails in your 1989 Ford F250 that you just bought will be compatible with the Husky 16k hitch # HT31326-31314 that had in your 1982 Chevy Truck. The capacity for fifth wheel rails is to never exceed the capacity of the hitch that is installed in them. So the rails in the Ford will do just fine with your Husky hitch.
Slider hitches aren't necessary on long bed trucks, slider hitches are much noisier than stationary hitches so unless one is needed you wouldn't want one.
