I have 2 mobile home axles and was wondering if it is possible to change them to either 6 or 8 bolt hubs with brakes and if it is possible, what would I need to know to do it.

Hi Ron,
So unfortunately mobile home axles can't be changed out to to different hubs and brakes as they are designed as a single-use axle (getting the mobile home from point A to point B). Meaning they don't have standard spindles for different hubs and drums. You can still get a 6- or 8-lug hub and drum, but you'd have to replace the axle.
To do that you will need to know the dimensions of your current axle's hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center; I have added a link below to a video which walks you through how to measure. The other thing you need to know is the weight capacity of the axle you need, which should match or exceed the GVWR of your trailer.
For example, the Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # e65SR has a 6-bolt hub and drum, 6,000 lb capacity and measures 89 inches from hub face to hub face and 74 inches from spring center to spring center.
I've added links below to our entire selection of trailer axles that have both 6-lug and 8-lug hubs on them for you to check out.
