Do I Need A Battery Disconnect Switch For A 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL

Question:

Do you have a battery cutoff switch that will work on a 2022 grand cherokee WL body? The battery is under the drivers seat and there is little space to put a switch. Mark

Hello Mark. According to Roadmaster, the battery on a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL does not need to be disconnected when flat towing. If you are still in need of a battery disconnect, we offer the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766 which is what we recommend for gas (non Diesel) vehicles.

Not sure that would work on the 2022 WL body. And it looks to connect to the positive versus the negative which conventional wisdom says is safer. That said, the gcs cables are thick and short so im not even sure how you would get something between the battery post and the factory cable. Have you installed in a WL body? I dont need one to tow. I need one to quickly reset the computers in case i cant get it into or out of tow mode. Known problem on the late model gcs. Happened to me twice so far. Wont be fun if it happens coming into a Campground where ill be blocking everybody behind me. Hence the cutoff to reset the computers.

@Mark The # RM-766 battery disconnect does indeed connect to the positive battery post, which is by design. This is more of a universal disconnect. We have never installed one on a Jeep WL body because this vehicle should not need one. I really cannot recommend using the # RM-766 disconnect in the way you described. With the vehicle being so new, I would probably take it back to a dealership and insist they fix the issue with the computers. You should not have to disconnect the battery in the first place.

Thanks Jesse, Unfortunately Jeep is proving unhelpful for several owners with flat tow mode issues. Hence the need to be able to reset the system of it happens again. Check out the ANBI switch I just found. May be a viable solution. Thanks again, Mark

@Mark Looking at those online it looks like it would work. Looks to be much more compact than the Roadmaster one.
