Will A Cargo Carrier or Bike Rack Be Damaged If Not Using an Anti-Rattle Device?
Question:
Im not concerned with the rattle/play when using a cargo carrier or bike rack. If I continue to simply use a hitch pin, will this play damage either the rack or what is connected to it. Thanks

With just using a cargo carrier or bike rack you should not see any damage to either the hitch mounted accessory or the receiver tube. Using a Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 like your found will not only help to eliminate the play but it also is great at reducing theft since it tightens down on the receiver and has a lock. While a lock can quickly be broken off by a thief the threaded bolts tend to be something they are not prepared for.
