Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring On A 2000 Dutchmen Lite 24QB Travel Trailer
Question:
So me and my wife just bought a 2000 model Dutchmen 24QB lite travel trailer and we are having problems with the exterior lights marker lights,turn signals and also the power plugs inside of the trailer and outside power plugs as well and this is supposed to be me and my wifes home as we just lost our home to a fire and I really need some help because I dont want to mess anything up because everything else in the trailer works

Hey Brian,
If you're having issues with your light signals then you'll want to start at the power source, which would be your tow vehicle's 7-way. You'll want to use a circuit tester # PTW2993 and test each pin of the 7-way to see if the light function is coming through. If not then you'll check your fuses.
From there you'll plug into the trailer and check the light functions at the junction box. If everything is fine then you keep tracing it back to the light checking if there's damage in the wires and replace as needed.
If the outlets inside and outside the trailer aren't functioning properly then the contact inside them could be worn and they just simply need to be replaced or the outlets are all wired to the same circuit breaker and you could have too many things plugged in drawing power. If you're working on anything 120v (AC) related you should always disconnect from shore power first.
