Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2024 GMC Canyon Pulling a Trailer
Question:
I own a 2024 GMC Canyon that I plan on towing my boat with. The boat on the trailer weighs apx 5000-5500 lbs and the trailer is equipped with surge brakes. My truck is rated to tow 7700 lbs but Im pretty sure could use some squat help. Would you recommend the Timbren 3600lbTGMRCCA or 4800lb T66GR. Im not off roading just towing. Thank you Mike

Personally I wouldn't go with Timbren's for your needs. They're essentially rubber bump stops that prevent your suspension from flexing when weights placed on the rear of your Canyon. The major issue with them is comfortability when you are not towing your trailer. These significantly affect the range of your suspension which can leave you with a stiff rigid feeling in the rear end. Plus if you hit a bump while there's weight on them they tend to bounce.
Instead, I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-212-40. These are a lot softer and work off a system called progressive load control. The springs only engage when there's weight placed on the rear of your truck and respond proportionately. They only have a 1,000 lbs capacity which is still more then enough to cover the tongue weight of your Colorado at it's maximum capacity.
If you are set on going with the Timbren's you will want to use the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System item # TGMRCCA because of it's slightly lower capacity compared to the item # T66GR.
