Does Curt Echo C51180 Require Running Wire to Vehicle Stoplight Circuit

Question:

Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller - 7-Way Plug Mount w/ Bluetooth App - 1 to 2 Axle - Proportional - C51180, Does this required to connect to the break wire or it can determine the break signal from the four pin connector and the 4-7 pin convertor kit. Thanks

Hey Patrick, the Curt Echo # C51180 is able to use the stoplight circuits from the 7-way to determine when vehicle brakes are applied so you do not need to wire it to the stoplight circuit of the vehicle.

HI James. Thanks for your explanations, still need some clarification. My grand highlander was only installed with a 4 pin towing harness. My plan is to install a 4- 7 pin convertor. By connect the existing 4 -pin connector and also 12V DC to the 7 pin connector without connect the break wire to the 7 pin connector. Will the wireless brake controller work by plug into this 7 pin connector. I have these question Because your 4 - 7 pin convertor kit, Curt Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV - 10 Gauge Item # C57186, need to connect the break wire. Thanks Patrick

@PatrickN The Curt Echo creates it's own brake output circuit so you do not need to connect it on the vehicle 7-way side. Also there would be nowhere to connect it as it would normally connect to a brake controller which wouldn't be there.
