Over Under Conversion Kit Needed To Lower The Height Of A Boat Trailer
Question:
Hello, I need help identifying what type of trailer set up I have and seeing if it possible to lower the trailer height to help with clearance getting into garage. It’s a single axle boat trailer. Is this a overslung axel? Can I move these leaf springs to below the axel to help lower? Thanks in advance Please let me know if you can help me get in contact with someone to figure this out. Thank you

Hey Travis,
Overslung suspensions have the leaf springs above the axle and underslung systems have the leaf springs below the axle. We offer conversions kits to switch between these styles, but you'll need to first measure the diameter of your axle to choose the correct kit; # K71-384-00 (2-3/8" diameter axles) or # K71-385-00 (3" diameter axles).
If you're currently in the overslung position and want to switch to the underslung position then you can choose the appropriate kit and make the conversion. You will need to have the new spring seats tack welded to the axle tube and it definitely wouldn't hurt to make sure the boat isn't going to sit too low with the suspension being lowered and cause any interference You'll likely have to remove and adjust your fenders to fit correctly with enough clearance for away from the tires. If you want to send me some pictures I can take a look as well.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply. I do have some pictures. How do I submit them? I believe I have a overslung set up. So I will need to move to underslung. When you mention the weights for these conversions, is this the maximum weight it can handle? My boat dry weight is 4900 lbs. thank you
