Can Blue Ox Flat Tow Wiring Be Used to Replace Mopar 82211156AC Wiring on a 2012 Wrangler
Question:
I am towing a 2012 Jeep Wrangler which has the Mopar harness installed to the factory harness. Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness - Mopar 82211156AC. My umbilical cord is now shot so I need to replace it and it is not available from Mopar anymore. Im hoping this would work if I changed out the Jeep side connector to this new 6 pin connector but I cannot find the wire color code for that Mopar harness.

Hey Eric, thanks for reaching out and providing photos!
You definitely can swap out the 6-Way socket that comes with the Blue Ox 7-Wire to 6-Wire, Coiled Electrical Cord # BX88206 for the plug on your Mopar 82211156AC wiring harness so you can get your 2012 Jeep Wrangler back up and running. I was able to find some information regarding the pinout on your Mopar connector so I'm going to tell you which wire in your photo should carry which function, and then you can use the linked photo of the Blue Ox 6-Way socket to help you correctly install the connector. Please note the orientation of the Blue Ox socket prior to connecting the wires.
Here are the functions your Mopar wiring should be connected to:
Red - Tail/Running Lights
Yellow - Left Turn/Stop
Green - Ground
Black - Right Turn/Stop
Brown - 12V Power
You'll want to verify that this is the correct pin out for your application by applying 12V power to those wires to see what functions they power - I'm not entirely sold that the information I found in a forum is correct.
