5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box for Keystone Impact 311 Toy Hauler

Question:

What 5th wheel to gooseneck pinbox adapter for a Keystone Impact 311 toy hauler? I have a 2021 F250 short box and have the BandW gooseball installed, but no 5th wheel prep. Also wondering about clearance to the cab because of the short box. Looking at 5th wheel toy haulers and a Keystone Impact 311 has caught my eye with a dry weight of 11,289, GVWR of 16,780, and hitch weight of 2,780 lbs.

In order to use the gooseneck hitch in your 2021 F-250 with the Keystone Impact 311 I recommend the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box. However, the # GY58GR you looked at isn't rated high enough. Gen-Y uses the formula GVWR x 0.22 = TW so at 16,780 lbs it will be 3,692. This means you need the # GY66FR with the 5,500 lb tongue weight capacity assuming you have a 1621 bolt pattern. You will also need to determine which pin box bolt pattern is on the toy hauler. Since you haven't purchased it yet I would just ask the dealer to let you know what it has.

For clearance you will need to use the following formula:

(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from the center of the gooseneck ball to the back of the truck cab
B = Length of offset (4" if you use # BWGNXA4085)
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

I went ahead and added the 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # BWGNXA4085 as part of B which will help with clearance. If the clearance is 4" or more you will be able to make a 90 degree turn with the Gen-Y pin box installed.
