Are the Blue or Black SumoSprings Going to Be Best For 2020 Ram 1500?

Question:

Im considering the purchase of a set of Sumosprings for my 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 w/ eTorque. I tow a 2017 Keystone Laredo 331 BH which has a loaded weight of around 9875 pounds, tongue weight close to 1075 Lbs. With my WDH the truck sits level. My bump stops have 2 inches of clearance still. When I load our other gear in the bed of the truck Camp chef grill, XL cooler with ice and food, Canopy, 40# LP tank, etc, the truck squats a little. Unfortunately, I never measured the amount of squat . The bump stops do not touch at all over bumps or potholes. I would like to set up the Sumosprings so that they do not touch the axle pads when driving regularly no Trailer, but assist with keeping the truck level when the bed is loaded. Would the blue SSR-307-40 be enough or am I better with the SSR-307-47 with the 1inch spacer removed or with it installed. My concern with the -47 is that I would get too much lift and the truck would not sit level. Thanks with your help.

Since your weight distribution hitch is working to keep your 2020 Ram 1500 level I recommend going for the lighter Blue # SSR-307-40 springs. These have the 1" spacer as well like the heavier Black # SSR-307-47 springs which you can take out or leave in depending on how the ride quality performs. I feel like with the lighter blue springs you will not notice them even if they are touching the leaf springs unloaded. Often times as trucks get older the springs sag so your suspension is likely going to sit slightly lower than when it was brand new. With the springs being progressive they can often smooth out the ride and you may see a slight increase in ride height depending on how much the factory springs have sagged over the years.
