Recommended 7-Way Connector and Brake Controller for a 2018 Ford F-150
Question:
My friend has a base model 2018 f 150, cloth seats etc, small radio and display screens. My question is he needs a 7 pin wiring for hit travel trailer. The back has a hitch but only a 4 pin connector, what fo we need to do to put in a trailer brake controller. Im not really wanting to use a Ford integrated one and have to flash his pcm. Is there a kit or something we can do to add a controller? He does not need expensive digital just a basic trailer brake controller and necessary wiring. Can you please help. Thanks. Justin

I would be happy to help! To add a 7-Way connector to your friends 2018 Ford F-150 you'll want the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector item # C56413. This plugs into the factory wiring harness.
You will want to verify that your friend's truck came with the 4-way from the factory. If it was an aftermarket addition you won't have the necessary port and will need to install the item # ETBC7 instead.
For a simple but reliable brake controller that also has an available plug and play wiring harness. You will want the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller item # TK90160. So long as your friend's F-150 came from the factory with that 4-Way connector you can use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers item # 22292.
I have linked some installation videos below so you can see how to get these parts set up.
