What Parts Come with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
Hello, Are these two separate items? I need to insure we get the pig tail shown in item #90195 for installation on a 2008 Ranger. We plan to share the trailer and controller and I have the 2012 Acadia. I also need to understand what needs to be done under the hood as the owners manual states some wires need to be connected in the fuse/relay box under the hood. Is this true or is it truly plug in play. I DO have the factory trailer tow 7 pin from the factory. The pigtail in the glove box also matches the 3026-P that I plan to use for quicker install. Thanks for the help!

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller and the plug-in wiring adapter # 90195-3026-P do come together. They can also be ordered separately. The brake controller can easily be installed on your 2012 GMC Acadia with the included vehicle specific wiring adapter. It is plug and play. No other parts are necessary.
As to your second question, the Prodigy P3 # 90195 comes with a wiring harness that plugs into the brake controller and the pigtails to wire up to your vehicle. However, the 2008 Ford Ranger does not have a factory brake controller port. So you will need to use the 4 and 7 Way installation kit # ETBC7 and the No-Drill Mount Bracket # C57202. This kit provides the 7-Way, while still retaining the 4-Way, and all of the wiring needed to install a brake controller.
Since you plan to use the controller in two different vehicles you may want a second plug-in harness like # 20127 and mounting bracket # TK5906 so you can just unplug the controller and plug it into your other vehicle.
I have included some links that explain the installation of the ETBC7, as well as a video review of the brake controller.
