Hey Fred, have you checked the fuse box yet? Since the vehicle is brand new you are likely just missing the fuse needed to activate the trailer brake control circuit. Your owners manual will specify the exact fuse location for the trailer brake control module but you will just need to check this location and make sure the appropriate fuse is inserted. Based on what I can find online it should be in the engine compartment fuse box # 63, but you will definitely want to check your owners manual to confirm this.
