I believe you're asking about getting a brake controller set up on your 1990 Dodge, and for that you'll need a 4-way, 7-way, and brake controller.
For a 4-way you'll need the Tail Light Converter w/ 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # C56190KIT then for the 7-way the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.
You will first install the 4-flat, which will activate your trailer's lighting functions, and you'll then plug that into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation.
Then you'll just need the brake controller and wiring adapter, with a good economical but solid choice being the Curt Venturer NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV with Universal Wiring Adapter # C51515.
