How To Splice In A Towed Vehicle Diode Wiring Harness To A 2023 Chevy Colorado
Question:
Im adding this kit RM-154 to my 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss. The light layout is similar to the 2022 but the wiring colors are different even from the 2023 Colorado wiring diagram. I have a yellow/green/black on the upper bulb and a red/green/black on the middle bulb see photo. The upper bulb is the taillight/turn and the middle is the taillight/brake. Im confused as to how to wire the diodes for this model.

Hi Greg,
Since the turn signal for your 2023 Chevy Colorado is separate so you'll need to choose whether you want the brake light to act as both your stop and turn signal. If so then you can just wire the both signals from the motorhome to the brake light on the Colorado. Both turn and stop will connect to the 'In' spade terminals on the diodes included with the # RM-154.
If you want to separate the signals so that the turn signal will come through on the correct light then you just need to pick up a converter # 118158 and two additional diodes # RM-792. The wire harness in the RM-154 can run to this converter and then from the converter out to the tail lights with diodes in-line to prevent feedback. The 'Out' spade terminal on the diodes will go to whichever wire sends power to the specific tail light. If you need help determining which one is the correct wire to splice into you'll just need to turn that signal on and check the wires with a hook & probe tester # PTW2993.
It can be confusing tapping into the factory wiring so if you still need more info or pointers just let me know and I'd be happy to help.
