Will The Curt Echo C51180 Work On A 2022 Subaru Ascent With The Factory Tow Package?
Question:
Does this brake controller work on a 2022 Subaru Ascent with factory tow pkg? When I look and say it does not have the factory tow pkg, it is listed as an option. When I say it does have the tow pkg, this controller is no longer listed. If it truly isnt available for an Ascent with the tow pkg, why wont it work? Thanks

Yes, the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller # C51180 will work on a 2022 Subaru Ascent with the factory tow package. Sorry for any confusion, the way our site has it all laid out is a bit confusing. I will try to explain.
When you select the "with factory tow package" option, it looks like it is only showing brake controller options that use a custom fit plug-in wiring adapter. Such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 and the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3062-P. Since your Ascent has the tow package, there is going to be a factory brake control port already present under the dash. Most people elect to use this when installing a brake controller on a vehicle with the tow package, so I think that is why our fit guide is steering you towards those options.
When you select the "without factory tow package" option, it will show you virtually all of the brake controllers we offer. These options will require installation of an aftermarket 7-way vehicle wiring harness. A lot of them will come with a universal plug which would be hardwired to the 7-way harness. For example, the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR and the Universal Wiring Harness # RED69FR.
Your Ascent already has a 7-way plug on the back, which is all you will need in order to install the Curt Echo # C51180. You will just need to download the app on your smartphone and pair with the controller.
