Smart Diodes Needed For Flat Towing A 2021 Chevy Spark With Incandescent Tail Lights
Question:
I undertstand the intended use of the smart diode but i have a problem with seperate tail and turn lights. All car lamps are incandescent not led. I have red tail and yellow turn. My rv has a 4 pin hitch conn so i used diodes to seperate the hitch from car wires. The red acts as a tail only but the turn acts as brake and turn. That means yellow brake lights on the rv side. I tried using a red led instead of the incandescent and i get no light from the led. Added a resistor and i see volts but no light. I thought the smart diode might combine the turn and brake light to the red bulb. Thoughts?

Hi Mike,
The Roadmaster Smart Diode # RO54FR is designed for use specifically with LED tail lights so if your towed vehicle has incandescent bulbs you'll need part # RO34FR instead. These should properly read your motorhome and vehicle traffic signals to display the signals correctly through your incandescent tail lights.
