Which Adapter is Needed to Install Derale Transmission Cooler in 2008 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
I have a 2008 Tahoe with the 4.8 liter engine. It only has the transmission cooler that is in the radiator. Id like to install the Derale D13503 transmission cooler. I watched the installation video for a 2011 Suburban, but that vehicle had a factory cooler in addition to the one in the radiator. The video recommended the Derale D13035 adapter. I noticed that you also have a Derale D13018 GM Radiator Adaptor. Which adapter do I need for my Tahoe? Or will either work? Also, which line is the return line? The one at the top or bottom of the radiator?

To install the Derale transmission cooler part # D13503 on your 2008 Chevy Tahoe that has a 4.8 liter V8 would require the adapter part # D13035 and not the other adapter.
I don't know for sure which line is the return line but I can pretty easily help you figure it out. When the vehicle is cold go out and start the SUV up and put it in drive with the brake on. Use the throttle to slightly raise the RPM and then put the vehicle in park and shut it off. Now quickly run out and grab both lines. The cooler of the two is the return line.
