Is an Extension Cable Needed for Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 on 2013 Ford F150
Question:
I wanted to know before ordering if there is any reason I would need the 5foot extension for this system on a 2013 4x4 F150 Supercrew 5.5 bed. I figured with having done the installations you might have a better feel for if it would be needed.

I doubt you will need the extension cable. The wire harness for Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 is 19 feet, 7 inches long, but to be sure you will need to measure from your vehicle's T- connector that plugs into the 7-way plug at the rear of your vehicle to the spot where you want to mount your monitor to determine whether you will need an extension cable.
The most likely places to mount the monitor are next to your rear view mirror or on the driver side dashboard near the door pillar. You are less likely to need the extension if you mount the monitor near the door pillar.
I have included a link to a video of the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Installation in a 2004 Ford F-250.
