Upgrading 4.80-12 Wheels and Tires on Triton PWC Trailer For Better Highway Trips
Question:
Hello, I have a Triton PWC trailer that I bought last year that Im looking to upgrade components on for longer trips. Im pretty confident that it currently has these tires: AM30670 and Ive heard that upgrading to radials is recommended. Do you all have a specific recommendation for what I should buy to upgrade my current wheels?

A radial tire like the Taskmaster 4.80R12 # TT48012C is a lot better for longer trips. The radial construction is ideal for highway use as it will run cooler than a Bias # AM30670 tire like you have. It also has a much higher speed rating of 81mph while your tire is most likely limited to 55mph.
Personally I prefer using an aluminum Wheel # LH45FR on a boat trailer as it will better resist corrosion. It will also help to keep the tire cooler since aluminum is better at dissipating heat. If you choose to go this route you will want 2 or 3 if you want a spare Wheel # LH45FR and Tires # TT48012C. Then you can have them installed at your local tire shop.
