Should The Ground For A 4-Pole Trailer Wire Harness Be Ran To The Frame Of The Trailer
Question:
I want to add a four pin connector to the back of my travel trailer so I can install Led tail lights on my bike rack and plug them into trailer. My trailer is a 2021 and has LED lighting. My question I know I can splice the 4 pin tail and turning wires into tail lights but, can I also just splice the ground into the tail light ground? Or do I need to run the ground separately and directly to the trailer frame? Thank you for your guidance.

You would be able to splice into the ground for the tail lights but you should really just run the ground to the frame of the trailer instead. It's the best way to ensure that you have a proper ground and won't have problems later on. You'll want to make sure you get a 'vehicle end' 4-pole connector like part # C47NR and some heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-10 for a waterproof connection.
