Hanger Kit for Tandem Axle Trailer that Needs More Wheel Clearance
Question:
I going to move the axles on a 20 foot deck. The axles are 3 foot from the rear of the trailer. Its a tandem axle with 2 10,000# axles. We plan to haul our equipment and other materials on the trailer. The goose hitch is 8 feet 3 inches forward of the deck if this helps. The tires were rubbing on the Deck is one of the reasons for the change and the axles dont meet the 60/40 rule.Which hanger kit would I need to make this change? Thanks,

Since you said your tires were rubbing I would go with a hanger setup that is a little taller like the part # AP233-H248 which has 3-1/4 inch front/rear hangers and 3-5/8 inch center. Also, while the 60/40 rule for axle placement is a great starting point it's no the end-all-be-all for placement. The best location for the axles will be where the weight of the trailer will have it's tongue weight as 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight.
