How to Set the Preload for the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs

What is the proper preload for trailer SumoSprings? What is the best way to tell if the preload is correct? Thank You!

You want between 1/4" and 1/2" of preload on the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs item # TSS-106-40. If not you'll get a harsher ride quality because the springs will always been engaged or you'll get nothing out of them because the suspension will have to travel too far. Three 1/2" spacers for each side are included with this kit to make sure the springs are mounted correctly.
This process is outlined in the installation instructions I have attached below. Steps 2 and 3 will walk you through the process. You basically install the mounting bracket onto the leaf spring then measure the gap between it and the trailer's frame before you jack the trailer up.
I have also attached a couple of review and installation videos below to help you get these springs set up.
