Recommended Bike Rack For Two E-Bikes On A Ford E-250 Van
Question:
I have and e250 Ford van. Will be leaving eastern Canada to drive to Arizona for the winter then to drive to Vancouver and cross Canada. A 5 month trip. Got two ebikes at approx 60 pounds ea, with fenders The distence from tire hub to hitch is 75 inches. I do have a huat swing arm. What would be my best bike rack option. Since your bikes weigh 60lbs and have fenders an option like the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR you were looking at would be a great choice. It has a per bike capacity of 80lbs and uses padded clamps to attach to the frame so that it won't interfere with the fenders.
When folded down the closest part of the rack to the center of the hitch pin hole on the trailer hitch is 12". If this isn't enough clearance then you can use the your Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender # PVD20B, but you'll be lowering the capacity of the trailer hitch by 50% and would also be limited to the extender's 250lb capacity.
