Yes, you can use the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution # BLU36FR with an extended shank, and for that I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4600 which measures 14" from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the adjustment holes for the ball mount section.
Using a standard extended shank will be just fine and won't have any positive or negative effects on this system. The only time using an extender is an issue is if you add a standalone extender like the 18" Long # e48YR to a weight distribution system. This adds more connection points between the hitch and the trailer, and will reduce the overall capacity of your hitch by 50% which is why we recommend using a longer shank as opposed to an extender.

To double check. Can I use a longer 18” shank with the Blue Ox BXW0650? Like the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 18" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW Item # EQ90-02-4500?
