Factory Connection Point to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2014 Ford F-150
Question:
Where is the plug on a 2014 Ford F-150 to plug in a brake controller wiring harness? I purchased the following for my 2014 F150 with tow package: 1 Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller and 2 Tow Ready Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ford F-150 Part Numbers: 90885, 22292 The installation instructions says, “First off we’ll go ahead and locate the port for our adapter cord. Its underneath the dash right next to the diagnostic board.’’ MY PROBLEM IS THAT I CANNOT LOCATE THAT GRAY FACTORY INSTALLED PORT ANYWHERE UNDER THE DASH. I LOCATED ONE BY USING A MIRROR, BUT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM UNDER THE DASH AND IT HAS 5 WIRES INSTEAD OF 4. THE ONLY OTHER WIRES UNDER THE DASH ARE BUNDLED TOGETHER IN A THICK HARNESS.

Brake controller wiring harness # 22292 plugs into the built-in connector beneath your vehicle's dashboard. To access this connector, first locate the instrument cluster finish panel in the center of you dash, near the driver's side. Carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. Plug the adaptor into the mating connector in the large gray housing behind the panel.
I have included pictures that should help you with the location of the factory connection point.
