Recommended Cargo Stabilizer For Large Bin In 2005 Ford E450 Box Van
Question:
I have a Large Trash bin approx 2,000 lbs loaded in a 2005 E450 14ft Box Van. Can you suggest a method of securing the cargo? It was previously attached to the wall and it pulled the e-track out. Thank you

The biggest problem with an E-Track system being pulled out of the wall is that there were not enough fasteners used when securing the track system to the wall of a truck. Many time the point of stress can be placed on a part of the track system causing failure. I recommend using fasteners in at least every other hole and possibly in every mounting hole to make sure it is secured. The E-Track system like part # E19148 has a weight capacity of 6000 lbs, so it should have the strength needed to hold the 2000 lb bin you said you are carrying.
Another option you may wish to consider when trying to secure a large cargo bin in your 2005 Ford E450 14 Ft Box Van is to use a cargo stabilizer bar like part # HE4016. This bar will fit a cargo area from 59 to 73 inches wide, so if the inside of your van falls within that measurement, this bar would work for you. I spoke to my contact at Heininger and they told me there is no load capacity for these bars. This bar has a ratcheting handle that gives you a quick easy adjustment and also features large rubber feet that will tightly grip the van walls. You could place a bar in front and a bar in back of the bin you plan on securing to hold it firmly in place.
I also recommend the HitchMate StabiLoad Support, part # HE4017. This attaches to the stabilizer bar and prevents the load from shifting side to side. It can be clamped along the length of the cargo bar and is tightened in place with the included set screws.
I have attached a product review video for these products.
