Overall Width Of The Roadmaster D-Ring Adapter # RM-035-1
Question:
What is the overall width of the RM-035-1 adaptor where the pin goes through? Im wondering if the RM-035-1 adaptor Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar will fit between the Roadmaster crossbar openings on my 2014 Honda CR-V. Unfortunately I dont have my towbar with RM-035-1 adaptor available right now to measure. Im using the RM-035-1 adaptor for my 2022 Ford Bronco but would like to be able to tow the older CR-V without changing the ends back to the original towbar ends. The pin for the CR-V crossbar/towbar ends is 3/4inch and I have 7/8OD x 3/4ID bushings for the pin which will fit the 7/8inch ID of the pin holes in the RM-035-1 and the 3/4inch OD CR-V pins so I can use the original CR-V crossbar and the CR-V 3/4inch diameter pins. The internal width of the CR-V crossbar opening is ~2.22inch and the CR-V towbar end is ~2.15inch wide. If the RM-035-1 adaptor will fit between the sides of the CR-V crossbar, I should be able to adapt to either the Bronco or CR-V without having to change the towbar ends.

The Roadmaster D-Ring Adapter # RM-035-1 is approximately 2-1/8" wide so it would technically fit between the direct-connect fittings on your baseplates, but they aren't intended for this kind of use so if anything went wrong you would be liable. The safest course of action would be to swap the adapter and direct-connect attachment points on/off as needed between the two vehicles.
