Recommended Hitch and E-Bike Bike Rack for a 2018 Toyota C-HR
Question:
Hi there! My brother has been an avid enjoyer of using his ebike. I live in away from him, but he lives in Calgary Alberta right now. I wanted to buy him a super special gift this year for Christmas which is to get a hitch installed on his car and to find a bike rack that could attach to it and carry his e-bike which is quite heavy. I dont know much about cars, but I know there must be some maximum weight. His e-bike is this one: DJ FAT BIKE Here are some details that could help It weighs: 125kg 275lb His car: Toyota C-HR 2018 My main question to answer is: * could his car actually get this installed? * if yes, could you recommend a rack that would fit this bike? If you could do that I would be so happy, I just discovered this website so I wasnt sure, but if you give such advice I am so blown away.

Thanks for all of the detailed information! What you are wanting to do for your brother is a great present and totally achievable. To add a hitch to a 2018 Toyota C-HR you will want the Curt item # C11567. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to a C-HR with included hardware.
I really like the Curt Hitch item # C11567 because it installs behind the rear bumper cover leaving only the 1-1/4" receiver visible. This hitch has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity.
There is one bike rack that will work with your brothers Dj Fat Bike and his C-HR. It is the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack item # TH903202. This bike rack has a 65 lbs capacity per bike so your brother will have to remove the battery when he is transporting his fat bike. The bike rack itself weighs 45 lbs.
You will also need to add the Fat Bike Straps for Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack item # TH985101. The website you sent me shows the Dj Fat Bike having 4" wide tires. The standard straps that come on the EasyFold item # TH903202 top out at 3" wide tires.
I have linked a couple of installation videos below so you can see how to get these parts set up and what they will look like after install.
