Options For Charging Starting Car Battery With No Access To AC Power
Question:
Hi, My car is parked in the basement of an apartment complex with no AC source for charging/maintaining my cars battery. I am thinking of buying a noco genius 10 and connect it to a portable power bank Jackery and then charge my cars battery via the noco cigarette lighter connector. I plan to put the Jackery power bank inside the car to charge the battery. Is this possible? Is it safe? Thanks in advance for the expert advice.

I do have a potential solution for you. We do not recommend using the NOCO Genius charger and Jackery power bank combination. The battery bank will only last so long, and would require regular recharging. Also, it is not recommended to use a power bank in a confined space like that, especially unattended in a garage or basement. So not only would this be unsafe, this would not be a viable solution for long term charging. You may be able to use a setup like that on an as-needed basis, basically like a jump starter, where you would hook it up right before a trip, just so you can start the car. At that point you may as well save your money and get a jump starter.
Since there is no option for shore power, your best bet would be to use a jump starter like the NOCO Boost Pro Jump Starter # 329-GB150. This features a rechargeable battery that can hold a charge for over a year. This way you will be able to jump the battery, and start the car whenever needed, and you will not need to leave any expensive equipment unattended in the parking garage.
