Troubleshooting Reverse Lockout Solenoid Not Activating On Boat Trailer Pulled By 2015 Toyota Tundra

Question:

I have a 2015 Toyota Tundra and tow a boat trailer which has a brake. When I back it into the ramp or parking I notice I have to put a block into the trailer brake area to stop it from engaging because it won’t back up. All the lights and brake work while pulling. I asked my marina where I bought it from and they said they don’t no have the same issues but mentioned something about a fuse being blown. I use a seven adapter from the truck to a 5 pin on the trailer. I looked at the fuse schematic but there appears to be four associated with towing. 6 TOW TAIL 30 A Trailer lights tail lights 11 TOW BRK 30 A Trailer brake controller 14 TOWING 30 A Towing converter 37 SUB BATT 40 A Trailer towing Any recommendations?

You are going to want to check the fuse panel under your instrument panel on your 2015 Toyota Tundra. Based on the information I could find online the trailer back up fuse should be located in slot 22 under the instrument panel as a 7.5 amp fuse. You will also want to check for power at the 7-way or after your 5-way Adapter # A75TB to ensure you are getting power to this circuit. A Test Light # PTW2993 will allow you to verify you are getting power on the circuit.

Finally if you verify you are getting power to the Reverse Solenoid # T4748800 and it is still not activating you will likely need to replace the solenoid as it is likely frozen.
