Parts Needed For A 2015 Buick Enclave To Tow A Trailer With Electric Brakes
Question:
I have a 2015 Buick Enclave and a trailer with electric brakes. I have existing, a flat 4 terminal plug for a boat trailer and a 2-wire plug with approximately #10 wire to it. This car is new to me. What 7 terminal receptacle do I need to plug my trailer into? Also, what brake controller do you recomend? Thanks,

Since your 2015 Buick Enclave has a 4-pole wire harness installed already the next step would be to install the # ETBC7. This kit will come with everything you need to for a 7-way connection point. The 2-wire plug you have is most likely the reverse light circuit. You can put the car in reverse and use a tester on the connector to see if it gets power. If so you can run this to the yellow wire or just cap it off with some electrical tape.
For the brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. There should be a factory wire harness for the brake controller to plug into that you can gain access to by following the attached video below starting at the 3:30 minute mark. To connect the Tow-Pro Liberty to it you'll need an adapter wire harness # RED27FR. The control knob for this brake controller is super tiny so you'll have plenty of options when it comes to placement on the dash. I've attached a video below where I installed one of these to help give you some pointers when you're completing the installation.
