4 Bike Platform Rack Solution for Toyota Highlander that Allows Rear Cargo Access with Bikes Loaded
Question:
Im looking for a 4 bike, hitch mounted, platform bike rack for my 2016 Toyota Highlander. I need one that will tilt down for rear vehicle access. What can you tell me about about rear hatch clearance with 4 bikes on a rack? So far, I have looked at the Yakima Holdup, Kuat Transfer V2 and Innos Tire Hold Bike Rack. Im concerned that 4 bikes might not let the rack tilt down far enough. Any other racks you think might work, please let me know. Thanks,

I have a solution for you but none of the tilting platform bike racks would provide enough clearance for the rear hatch to open with bikes loaded and rack tilted down.
Instead you would want to go with a pivoting bike rack solution like the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU77FR with the pivoting adapter part # PVP20B. This adapter would allow the rack to swing out completely from the rear of the vehicle to give you totally unrestricted access to rear cargo area.
