Why Does The Breaker Keep Tripping When Connecting A Trailer To 15 Amp Service
Question:
When I plug my 5th wheel into a 15 amp 110v outlet using an adapter, it trips the breaker. I checked the legs of the male plug for continuity with a meter looking for a short. I found that for a fractional moment, I do get a positive indication, then it stops. So, I started turning off breakers until it went away. The offending breaker is for the Fireplace. I removed the fireplace, checked its plug, finding the same result. All functions on the unit work as designed. I suspect there is an issue with the mother board. I disconnected each component, The LEDs, The Heater, The Motor, Checked the High Limit... Do I need to replace this unit? Best Regards,

If you're plugging your camper into a 15 amp outlet you're going to be limited to only 15 amps, which is very easy to exceed. Fireplaces like the Furrion Electric RV Fireplace with Crystals # FF40SC15ABL can pull 12 amps so that and a few lights would be enough to keep tripping the breaker. You'll need to connect to 30 amp service or turn off pretty much everything but your lights while connected to 15 amp service.
