Solution for Needing Higher Capacity Hitch Extension for 2021 Ram 3500

Question:

I have a 2021 Ram 3500 Crew Cab 8ft bed DRW and a Truck Camper that i us the CURT 36 extension. The current trailers I pull stay at or under the 450 lb tongue weight restriction of the extension. I am investigating purchasing a 8 x 24 ft car trailer with a 9950 GVW. In researching, it seems that the TorkLift setup is about the only thing out there to support that weight on that long of an extension. Can you verify and list the required parts? Also, since i have the factory hitch, how much of a pain is the TorkLift hitch install.

When it comes to higher towing capacities and hitch extensions the Torklift extensions are the only way to go like with the part # TLE1536. So to use this with your 2021 Ram 3500 you would need the Torklift hitch part # TLD1111-30 which fits underneath the factory hitch. The install really isn't too bad actually.

The Torklift hitch does not just fit 'under' the existing factory hitch - which must be removed first. This involves removing the bumper, uncoupling the wiring harnesses (a little tricky) and some of the bed mounting hardware to lift the bed a few inches in order to get the factory hitch off. Finding a way to jack up the bed is also somewhat tricky. This is far more involved than the earlier model Rams that you could just bolt the Torklift hitch to the frame and existing factory hitch without removing the bumper or jacking up the bed.
