Can a 10K Fastway e2 Round Bar Be Converted to 12K Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System?
Question:
Hello, I currently have the E2 round bar 10,000 lb hitch. I am thinking of upgrading to the equalizer 4 point anti sway hitch. Can I use the same shank and just upgrade the head and trunnion bars? Or is it best to buy a whole new setup? Also I may upgrade to a heavier trailer with a unloaded TW of near 700 pounds. Is the 10,000 lb hitch sufficient or should I go with a 12,000 lb or version? Thanks.

I recommend getting a whole new 12K Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET to replace your Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-1061. While it is possible to get the new Head # EQ90-02-1200, Ball # EQ91-00-6120, Hardware # EQ90-02-9100 and Spring Bars # EQ90-01-1299 you could run into warranty issues since the hitch was technically not acquired as a single unit. And with the Lifetime warranty that would not be something to just brush off.
Since your unloaded tongue weight is already 700lbs you will need to determine how high your loaded tongue weight is going to be. If this is for a camper remember the dry tongue weight does not include the 50lbs for a battery and 40-60lbs of propane the tanks will hold added by the dealer. That would mean the 12,000LB # EQ37120ET is the best option. If this is for an enclosed trailer which is already at 700lbs and the loaded tongue weight would never exceed 1,000lbs the 10,000LB # EQ37100ET would be the best option.
