Tailgate Sensor Relocation for Hitch Installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V
Question:
Regarding your answer to question on 2018 Honda CR-V Curt hitch 13397 installation: I have the exact install scheduled locally this Friday 9/15/23 and was told I would loose my tailgate lift sensor function. I would like to keep this function, however, I could not find the attached video you mentioned that shows this modification. My question is: What should I ask the installer to do regarding moving the sensor shell 7inch to the right? Is there enough wire to make this possible? Is it a question of moving just the antenna or the whole antenna holder assembly? Best regards

The attached video was just a standard hitch installation video and didn't show the modification, but I've linked the installation video for the Curt # C13397 for your 2018 Honda CR-V where we address this in the first 2 minutes of the video.
What you need to do is either ask the installer to move the sensor to either side of the hitch receiver (there will be enough wiring for this) or to take their time and do a really precise job at trimming in and around that sensor. I saw a video recently where someone was able to minimize the trimming and squeeze that sensor back in the original spot, but the only issue with that is the hitch receiver will be right in the way of the sensor so it's best to move it (the whole assembly) to either side.
