Typically if your A-iPower 2,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # 289-SUA2000i will start but dies after switching over to run you're dealing with a fuel issue. This could be a lack of fuel, bad fuel, or debris clogging up the fuel line. Your carburetor could also be clogged, which is very common if the generator sat for awhile with fuel in it. I recommend siphoning out the fuel you have in it and cleaning out the carburetor and then refilling with fresh fuel.

Mine is brand new out of the box, fuel is good as my mower runs fine off the fuel. What else could it be? Is there something I need to remove ? I.e. some type of packing or safety feature?

@BrianB If you have one new out of the box then it could just take a bit to fully run fuel through the lines to fully start the generator and have it run. There shouldn't be any type of packing or safety thing to remove to get the generator to start. You could check to see if the fuse blew or was just faulty in general since I've run into issues in the past where the fuse looked fine but still wasn't allowing power through. I would also make sure the dial is set to start/choke while trying to start the generator. Is it giving you any kind of indication that it's starting or any kind of error light?

@KevinC It starts fine and then gradually seems to lose power over a few minutes and then dies.

@BrianB Every time I've had this issue its either been a clogged fuel filter or and issue with the carburetor but you could also be low on oil since it's a brand new unit. If you remove the side cover you can check the oil dip stick to see if more oil is needed.
