Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Only Works with Manual Override Lever
Question:
I have a 2005 ram 2500. My curt venturer is not seeing signal from brake pedal. Trailer brakes work correctly with the slider. I believe the correct wire to tap into is the white/tan wire on the pedal? I have tried this is no luck

The problem is the red wire of the brake controller. It's either not connected properly or it's connected to wrong circuit. Best option is to check the condition of the connection as-is and fix if needed or if that's okay to use a tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wire to see if it has voltage when brakes are applied. If not, you'd need to check the other wires to find one that has voltage only when brakes are applied.
