Can 3,500 lb Hub and Drum Be Used for 4,400 lb Lippert Axle

Question:

Jon G got me the replacement part number for my Lippert brake hub but opens other questions. My Dutchman Kodiak Ultimate travel trailer has what Lippert calls 4400 LB axles with 84 spindles and hubs which are rated at 1750 lbs. or 3500 lbs. per axle. So how does that make since or am I missing something?

Expert Reply:

We have it, the etrailer Hub and Drum # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K, listed out for a 3,500 lb axle (and we break the math down on the product page) but when it comes to the hub side of things it's more about making sure it physically fits so since the bearings and seal match what you have with your #84 spindle, this hub will safely work with your 4,400 lb axles.
