Replacement Hub Assembly for Older Boat Trailer with 4 Bolt Pattern

Question:

Im looking at replacing both of my trailer wheel hubs from the old style LUG bolts to the modern Lug Nut configuration. Its a 4 bolt wheel and I need to know what the standard size axle diameter is for this boat trailer converted into a utility trailer with an A frame tongue. I havent yet pulled the wheel off but the tire size is 20.5 x 8 x 10 wheel. Im looking to change both wheel hubs and bearings can you help me out?

The standard hub for a 10" wheel and 4 on 4" lug pattern is going to either have # L44643 bearings and a 1" diameter spindle, or an # L44649 bearing and a 1.063" spindle. Once you've determined which one you have then you'll need to choose from the following:

- L44643 Bearings # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K
- L44649 Bearings # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-2K

Please note that these hubs are 4-1/2" deep so if your hubs are shorter than this it means you have an old enough style axle that you need to replace it to fit with standard hubs, otherwise you'll have to find that exact older style which isn't made anymore.
