The Thule Speedway 3 Bike Rack will not fit your BMW X3. The carrier is not recommended because the top straps should not be mounted directly to glass or plastic trim covering glass. The rack would probably cause damage to the glass or trim. Because of this, none of the trunk/hatch mounted bike racks we carry would work.
I would suggest using a hitch and a hitch mounted bike rack. The addition of the hitch will allow you to use other accessories like cargo carriers that you may find useful in the future. If you write back with the year of your X3 I can find a hitch that will fit your vehicle. I can also recommend some hitch mounted bike racks if I know how many bikes you will be carrying.
You do also have the option of using a roof mounted bike rack.
