Will The Start Capacitor Series CBB65-R # FR65FR Replace a Series C65-R Capacitor?

Question:

The capacitor shown is a CBB65-R. The one I need to replace is C65-R. Aside from that difference, everything else is identical. Can you tell me what the difference is between the CBB65-R and the C65-R? Can I use the CBB65-R to replace my C65-R? I have attached a photo of the bad capacitor I need to replace.

As long as all the other voltage and information matches you are able to use the CBB65-R Capacitor # FR65FR in place of your C65-R. These are simply series information numbers which I have found both listed on the exact same capacitor.

But the C65R has two terminals and the CBB65 has three. Which (black, red, or white) terminals do I use. My motor has two black wires. It’s for a pool motor.

@JackF Since wiring colors can easily be changed and not all electricians follow a set list of principals it is important to match the functions marked on top of the capacitor when replacing a capacitor.
