Can I Run a 14,500 BTU Furrion Chill Replacement RV Air Conditioner on a Dedicated 20 Amp Circuit?

Question:

I am looking to replace my Dometic 13,500 unit with a Furrion 14,500. I can currently run my Dometic on a dedicated 20 amp circuit at my house with no other trailer appliances turned on. Would I be able to do the same with the Furrion 14,500?

No, you would not be able to. I have spoken with Furrion about this exact question before because their written specifications are misleading. The 14,500 BTU Furrion Chill Replacement RV Air Conditioners, like the item # FR66SR you were looking at, draws 14.6 amps while running and has a start capacitor but it requires 30 amps and 2,500 starting watts.

If you wanted to stick with your 20 amp circuit you'll need use the 13,500 BTU Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner item # FR62PV. This system is also a replacement for Dometic 13,500 BTU units.

Please feel free to email me directly with any additional questions.
