Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack for 4 Bikes that Will Clear Spare Tire on 2004 Jeep Liberty

I have an 2004 Jeep Liberty with an exterior mounted spare tire. I am looking for a bike rack that mounts in the hitch to hold 4 bikes. It has a 2 inch class 3 hitch. I purchased a Thule Hitching post because their website said it fit. However, when I received it and attempted to install, it does not fit because of the spare tire. I contacted their customer service and was told the website was incorrect. What are your recommendations for the proper bike rack that fits with the hitch on my vehice?

The Thule Hitching Post hitch mount bike rack #TH934XTR measures 13-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the up right bar. You will need a bike rack that sticks out further than that but to determine how much you will need to take a measurement.

Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole straight back to the distance required to clear the spare tire. I have linked a help article and picture that shows how to take the measurement.

To gain 1 more inch, look at the Swagman Original bike rack # S64400 at 14-1/2 inches'

Once you take that measure, you will know which carriers fit.
